ABOUT MATHILDE BERNARD
From a young age, I have always done sports and as I was growing up I did many different ones but triathlon is the one that I fell in love with. I started swimming when I was eleven, and then when I was in middle school and beginning of high school I was running 5km and 10km with my mom. That’s when my friends suggested I do a triathlon since picking up the bike wouldn’t be too hard. I started working with a triathlon team in Colorado Springs called Wicked Fast. In high school, I did cross country, swimming, and track and field. I was a varsity athlete for all three. I would train and race for triathlons in the summer. When I was still a youth I qualified for nationals in Ohio and won for my age group. I decided I wanted to pursue triathlons in university and I went to Black Hills State University a D2 school on a triathlon scholarship where I qualified for nationals all four years. When I was just a freshman I got awarded All-American. I majored in elementary education and minored in reading and early childhood education. I recently earned my pro card and am training full-time as a professional athlete to pursue my goal of getting to the Olympics in 2028 for Team Canada.
